Looking Ahead to the Spring: Global Science Inquiry Preview
This week, I'd like to share with you a preview of what Global Science Inquiry (GSI) will include next semester. As a reminder, the Jasper students currently have American Studies 1 and English 9. Next semester, they will move to D&D and Global Science Inquiry (GSI). GSI is the foundational science course at EHS. After taking GSI in 9th grade, students will move on to take Biology in 10th grade. GSI explores human health, different ecosystems and resources, and the dynamic relationships that exist between people, those places, and all the things that come from there (resources). This 4-minute video gives you a sneak peak at the projects coming up next semester. Course Registration Process The course registration process at EHS is a long process, but it has begun. The Jasper teachers met with students last week to talk about some recommendations for next year. I have also talked to students about some elective courses. One of the best parts about EHS is our wide variety of courses we offer. It is a great opportunity to explore interests/passions, or take courses that might reveal an interest that students did not know existed. If you have any questions about electives, graduation requirements, or just 'what should I take and when?' please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Mihalik at [email protected]. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to this since it really depends on each individual student, goals, background, interests, etc... Since course registration has begun, this also means that I will be communicating to current 8th graders about Jasper the week we return after break. Happy Holidays! On behalf of everyone involved with Jasper, I wish you all a safe, healthy, and restful holiday! |
